Cycling in to Work

Getting off my exit for work yesterday I saw a cyclist. We made eye contact and I smiled as I let him go in front of me. He looked familiar. He looked like a guy that parks next to me in our packing garage. He wasn’t in a suit though so I thought I was mistaken. Plus, who cycles into work? I mean you would have to take a shower when you got in. It was damn hot outside. Even for the early morning.

When I got to the building I parked in my normal spot and walk up two flights of stairs to the main entrance,  and what do I hear coming up behind me? A bicycle. He rushes right passed me and says, “beat ya”. I’m like, “How is that even possible?”. He said he had a parking lot advantage with the bike.

That is all.

My Journey's: Some Guys Steal Hearts and Some Guys Steal Noses

Riding on the way back from lunch today with some co-workers brought up another one of my infamous "dates". Discussing this one, which always brings up a laugh, birthed this jewel of a title I've graced you with. It came out of the mouth of one of a dear co-workers and I thought it was hilarial.

On to the story. I'd met this guy where he worked. I was just excited to have met a "real boy" not someone off the internet. He was super cute, which is a shame because he turned out to be a bit of a tool box.

For starters our first date was pretty casual. Met at a local pub, shot the shit, talked about past relationships (he did I don't. That's a dating no no), talked about our likes and dislikes, so on. We kept up conversation so all round it was a good first date. One thing bothered me however. And this may sound picky, but he liked e-cigarettes. And he liked them not because he was trying to quit but because he didn't like the smell of cigarettes. However, this didn't stop him from asking me for one of my "real" cigarettes then NOT inhaling. Waste. Still I agreed to another date.

Next date was still casual. We met at my spot, Mad I, because on our first date he said he use to go there a lot and he really liked it. My bestie works there. I got way too out of control the night before and was hung over all day (and night) for our next date. Still doesn't excuse the actions that came along. First off he freakin poked at my stomach and said, "Oh you're pudgy". Come again? Did you just poke my stomach and call me pudgy? Did this really happen!? It did. Ok, so I said, "Um I'm not pudgy". Rolled off. Next, and I can't even believe this is real life, he comes back from the restroom and does a sly "Got your nose" move. I am not kidding! He took my nose like my grandfather would do when I was 5 years old. I'm in shock here. He says, "Do you want it back" to which I reply, "No thanks I'm good". He then says, "I'll keep it then". You do that.

The date didn't end there. After him poking me, calling me pudgy (no way to talk to a girl by the way) and stealing my nose, I was anxious to get the hell out of there. He walks me to my car, because can you believe it, he's made me a mixed cd and got me a tshirt (his work). Just and fyi, the cd sucked! Anyways, I know he's going to want a kiss, because we had kissed on our first date (I should really stick to the no kissy on the first date rule) so I decide I just want to get this over with and give him a kiss. I go in for the kiss and he pulls back and says, "Wow wow wow you're friends are watching". Wow wow wow did I just get turned down by a guy I didn't even want to kiss in the first place? Um yeah I did. I say, "fine" and get in my car. On starts the begs from him for a kiss. No thanks buddy you turned me down, embarrassed me, I'm oh so heart broken (sarcasm) and I'm going home. I didn't kiss him, and I avoided all his texts after that. We're still facebook friends however and I see he has a girlfriend now. I wonder if he got her nose too.

My Journey's: A Memorable One

I was sitting here thinking about all the dates I'd been on in the past year and a half (actually 2 years but I don't like to admit that) and I got to thinking about a couple that are quite memorable in my book.

We'll just call him B. For identity purposes, but mostly because I really can't remember his name. Anyways, B and I started chatting via okc. His profile was nice. He seemed pretty cool in his leather jacket. Yeah the leatha had me fooled! Not a lot of pictures, but enough for me to think I could judge his actual appearance.

It wasn't long before we started texting (I miss the days where an actual conversation took place. Then again sometimes I don't). Then discussing a plan to meet. We both loved music and Karaoke. He said he was a performer/producer of sorts. Me, I just love to sing and Karaoke is so much fun to me. What's better than going to a bar and watching people make fools of them selves? And sometimes you get those rare gems that are amazing and give you chills. The night that B and I decided to meet for Karaoke, I got chills, but not for him.

He chose the spot. It was in Midtown. He wasn't familiar with the area. His hair was way too long. Longer than in his pictures. I mean the guy's "bangs" (yeah he had freakin bangs) covered his eyes. And he was really shy. Awkward shy. So, he decides to put his name in for a Maroon 5 song. Oh goodness Maroon 5, you got to be kidding. This is only after he held on to the piece of paper wrestling with whether he should or shouldn't put it in. Now I'm thinking "he said he's a performer". Well obviously not. He gets up there and I mean you can't even hear him. The music is going and this guy is just standing up there looking like a fool. I hate to say that, but it's true. Of course I had to lie to him and tell him I could hear him and "no it was really good". It was horrible. His next brilliant idea was that we sing a duet. I chose June Carter & Johnny Cash, Jackson. We're almost out the door before our name gets called. I almost dodged a bullet. Almost! It was just as horrible as the first go round. Only this time he took me down with him.

Finally, we are leaving and it's snowing outside, so I offer to drive him to his car. I wasn't parked far away. And guess what? He doesn't remember where he parked his car. I mean really? I was driving in circles trying to find his nissan truck. Finally drop him off, say our good byes and that was that. He texted me a couple days later, but nothing after that. Maybe I did dodge a bullet after all.

I Play Kickball for Fun

Kickball is so much fun. I love my team and wouldn't give them up or the good times we've had for anything.

However, sometimes some of the guys act like the girls are capable of nothing. Like when two girls are on base and one of the guys says, "What did they do?" or "I mean how did they get on base?" Um we know what you mean. How do you think they got on base? They kicked the ball and ran. Much like you would. Thank you sir,  you are a douche.

Another continuous problem, for me, is their like to steal the girls plays. Like why are you running all the way from right field to steel my second base play? If you don't trust me on second base don't put me there. Otherwise stay in your position and I'll take care of mine. I've been playing second base for 6 seasons. I think I can handle it. Last night it was, "Tara if the ball comes your way I'll cover second, but if it comes my way you cover second". Got it. So, why do you feel the need to tell me that 5 times? Seriously I get it. I got it the first time you said it. And when the ball goes to short why are three guys on top of second base? Alls we need is one. Typically it would be the second baseman, which is me. It's a mess. Side note, I made an awesome play at second last night. It was glorious.

There are plenty of plays to be made. Plenty of balls to be caught. Plenty of bases to be ran. You'll get your play, so let us girls have ours. We can do it. And if we can't, so what. Thankyouverymuch!

Um...What?

On the dreaded elevator, going down to get the mail, two women get on at the 9th floor. Oh joy! One women opens her ridiculous mouth to say, "This week is going by so fast". Um...What? Lady it's only freakin Tuesday!

"Dr." Drew is a Phony and I Don't Know Why I Continue to Watch Addicts

The face Dr. Drew is making in the picture I've uploaded is one of the many that I can't stand. The way he babies these "celebrity" addicts makes me want to scream.

I don't understand why I continue to watch Celebrity Rehab, but when I start I can't stop. While watching this weeks episode I kept asking myself two questions: 1) Why am I watching this and 2) Why hasn't anyone realized that amy fisher is full of shit yet? I mean come on people this is a "girl" who told the nation that she was having an affair with a man and then shot his wife in the head! She is a manipulator. Or as Steven Adler said so perfectly "a liar and a bamboozler". LOL! Awesome.

On top of Celebrity Rehab, I can't stop watching Intervention. When I first started watching the show I felt for these people and said "they have a disease". I'm starting to think differently now. Like most addicts are just babies that won't grow up and won't get over things. So you got a couple spankings when you were a kid. So that makes you an addict. Get over it. I understand some of you really have had it rough, but I'm just getting over listening to you whine about it and blame everyone but yourself for your problems. Take responsibility for your life and own it. If you like it great. If you don't do something about it. These people are being offered an opportunity to change their lives for the better. And last night this guy, a drunk, said he had something better than rehab...Islam. Ok well I hope that works out for you. He didn't take the treatment and got arrested for DUI a couple weeks after.

Sing Along

Recently a couple old friends were asked to sing with another mutual friends band on a couple of tracks, back up. This is like a dream of mine. I would love to sing back up to a kick ass band. But sadly I wasn’t asked, or just wasn’t in the right place at the right time.

I was kind of jelly about the whole thing. Then I was at my parent’s house for my dad’s bday breakfast. A song came on the speakers, from my dad’s play list and my dad rushed my twin sister and I outside to hear it better. I didn't know what he wanted at the time, bringing us outside I thought I was in trouble or something. A train was passing through so we couldn't hear what was on the speakers. I said, “what is it, what do you want?” and finally he says “I wanted you to sing this song with me”. At that moment it hit me. I don’t need to prove myself to anyone or be in a band. I know I can sing and it’s enough just having my dad want me to sing a song with him.

It made me remember when we were young my grandfather would have us sing into his little recorder for him. I can’t remember now what the song was that he would always make us sing, but I remember singing into the recorder often enough. I would do anything to be singing for him again.
