My Weekend at Woodbury

I’d been thinking about blogging and how I haven’t been blogging and then my dad mentioned it to me this weekend saying he’s bored he needs me to blog. Thank goodness for him I had some weekend adventures.

I attended a wedding with TGIS this weekend and the site of the wedding just happened to be where Sweet Home Alabama was filmed. Well parts of it anyways. This gave me the GREAT idea to hunt down some of The Walking Dead locations on our Sunday. His parents live in Newnan so we figured we’d drop the kid off with them and go from there.

Right around the corner we hit up the site where the Governor pits Daryl and Merle against each other in a ZOMBIE filled arena. It was pretty cool. From there we decided to head to Senoia. On the way to Senoia we saw Barbie’s Beach on a road side. Apparently this guy just sets these Barbies out and it’s a thing. Happy he does, it was funny. We ate in Woodbury (not the real Woodbury, the made up Woodbury in Senoia) and saw some Walking Dead props (everything like the "wall" had been gated away or covered) and Fried Green Tomatoes locations.  From there we decided to quest out for the Prison. When we got on the line we were sent out to Griffin (30 minutes from where we were in the middle of no man’s land with absolutely NO cell reception) to a tiny little “prison”, West Georgia Correctional Facility (or something like that). Turns out this was NOT the prison location. The prison location is actually on site at the Raleigh Studios which was where we were, in Senoia. Regardless, it’s not about the destination it’s the adventure and we did see where Merle had his last drink and we did happen upon the real Woodbury and we had a good time.

We had some time to kill so on the way back we hit up Senoia Race Way. We went through a path, that I don’t think we were suppose to take, through a gate, that I don’t think was suppose to be open, and through the grass that I’m happy my car made it through. I had to pee and I didn’t have my Go Girl  (that you can now get at target) so with some advice from TGIS and his (female) cousin I decided to prop my bottom up against a ticket booth (a good ways away from where we were standing) and go for it. I did have napkins in my glove box after all. So, I’m out there, doin my thing and I hear a car coming. My first thought is “OH shit someone’s coming to tell us we’re not supposed to be down here” but I look back and it’s TGIS hauling ASS to my pissing location HONKING, totes messing with me. Now I’m laughing so hard I can’t finish. I finally do finish and ha.ha.ha look at me trying to pee on a ticket booth.

We finished up the day with dinner at The Alamo, which according to TGIS’s mother Daryl and Carole have been spotted hanging out here, the pizza was fabulous, TGIS snuck some pineapples on half because he knew I liked them, and walking through a house that I have to own next door to his parent’s house. The weekend was fun, spent with good adventures and good peoples. Hopes to do it again soon.
