Daily Reminder
It’s really nice to have people in my life who will leave Reminders like this one in my phone without me knowing it…
The Quaildogs
Chamblee
is such a tight knit crew. A blessing and a curse, sometimes you love it other times you hate it. Everyone pretty much knows everyone. This can be bad where if you do something everyone knows about it. More often than not it's far stretched from the actual truth.
A good note is, we can always pull a lot of people together when someone needs us. I'm particularly referring to a friend who decides he wants to be in a band. Such friends like Daniel Groover who's gone off to be in Loudowuci and now I.O.Z. You can always count there's going to be a good bit of Chamblians in the crowd. Sometimes we've brought a long a friend or two who didn't have any ties and is now a fan.
That all being said, I went to see The Quaildogs a couple nights ago. I'd been hearing about them through a high school buddies mom I still run into from time to time. I see her more often than my "friend" but that's besides the point. She'd kept saying I needed to check them out, me assuming it was some old foggie band I wasn't too interested. Later I found out her son, my friends little brother, was a band member.
So, I arrange to go to their CD release at The Vinyl. As would be expected there was quite the array of Chamblians in the crowd. I thought it really great that all us came to support our friends baby brother and his friends. The Quaildogs did not need us! They packed this place out. Sure we helped out, but they were good enough to not need it. I was pleasantly shocked and surprised at what I was hearing. They were strikingly good. It was a blast all round, to hear good music and spend the night with some old friends. Cheap shirts, cheap cd's and even FREE sunglasses! The Vinyl apparently hadn't had that many people in a while so they were unprepared and the bartenders were horrible. Still GO QUAILDOGS!

People Are Much More Glamorous When You Don't Know Them
This
has proven true to me time and time again. A couple times in high school when I started hanging out with the "popular" guys. A couple times after high school when a heart throb finally discovered how awesome I was and I discovered how awesome he wasn't. Not that he was a bad guy, he just wasn't the person I thought he was and I now see him un romantically. It makes so much sense. We see people from a distance and make up anything we want about them. The lead singer in a band, a friend of a friend's brother, the motorcyclist that drives passed you on your way to work. Whatever the case may be, in reality they're nerds, or jerks, or just un appealing. We act so strange around those people. I try not to be intimidated by people, strangers, but it's hard when you've made up illusions about them. I need to remind myself of the few that I couldn't imagine myself ever interacting with and now they're great friends.
Why Can't Dr's Make Their Appointments?
It
never fails, every time I have a Dr's appointment I end up sitting and waiting, whether it be well passed the scheduled time or just a couple of minutes. And this infuriates me. Trust if you missed the appointment they'd slap you with a charge or replace you.
Last week I had two appointments. One with the dreaded dentist and one to check on this weird thing I've been experiencing with my knee. The dentist was "suppose" to be quick and painless. I was just scheduled to have some ex rays of my mouth to turn into the insurance company. Apparently my mouth is "too small" or some shit because she could NOT get this one picture to take right, so she kept having to try again. I left with a swollen and sore mouth. Ouchers! Also it ran longer than it was suppose to. I should of known "quick" meant over 30 minutes in dentist terms. Besides the point, they scheduled me during their lunch hour. Why do dentist offices have their employees take lunch all at the same time? This does not make sense to me. I think there should always be someone there to greet and answer the phones. So, what is it I did when I got there? WAITED! And I had another appointment to get to so I was very antsy.
My Dr's appointment was just as annoying. I got there literally ON TIME! I walk up, tell the not so happy person behind the desk my name and she says she'll let the Dr. know I'm here. Ok...Fine. Well it was fine until I ended up sitting in the waiting room 15 minutes passed my SCHEDULED appointment. Finally a nurse comes and takes me back. She takes me to another waiting room where she weighs me and has me sit down to...WAIT for the Doc. While waiting, probably 20-25 minutes, I was amazed at the make shift "changing room" pictured in this blog. Just a stool and curtain. Nice. The Dr. finally comes in and asks me a bunch of question as she sits at a desk typing everything I say into her laptop. She has me do some movement and basically tells me she doesn't know what it could be, but she'll take my blood to see if anything comes back. Mkay...
I go sit in a hallway waiting on a nurse to take me to draw my blood. I am sitting there listening to three nurses laugh and carry on rather loudly as I wait wait wait patiently (right my patience is running thin). One finally walks passed me and says "Are you ready". I'm thinking bitch are you ready? Seems I interrupted your down time! I just get up and follow her. She takes me to a very small room and says sit down. Again I'm thinking WHERE!? There are two seats and am I just to pick one? Whatever, I just say "is this one ok" she says "yes" not looking at me. I sit down and she gets right to it. Takes my arm, sticks me with a needle and draws my blood. Well thinks nurse, I'm not at all terrified of needles and this is painless... Insensitive much? She says, "apply pressure". I say "I'm sorry" because I didn't hear her, she says it again, I say, "I can not hear you". She gets it this time and says it so I can hear her. All awhile her back is to me and she never once actually looks at me. So, she says you're all done. This time I'm thinking damn don't tell me how to check out or anything. I thank you for your pleasantness.
I decide I have to figure this out on my own. My Dr.'s office is new and this is the first time I'd been there. I go up to the front where I checked in and I seriously stand there for over 20 minutes waiting for someone to pay attention to me so I can, you know, pay them! Finally got some attention and was on my way. I almost left without paying.

Valentine’s Day Whoopee Pies
Despite my initial plan to
boycott vday, not because I’m single but because of the loss we suffered last
year, I had a pretty good one. A coworker gave me a cute lady bug card with
home made chocolates and I did decided to dress in red with one of my favorite
heart necklace creations. One of my beffies got me flowers and Mason Robert
chocolates (the best) and we met with a friend and his youths for a “vdate” at
the Mad Italian.
At arrival we were greeted
with red carnations. Readers, you know carnations remind me of Garrett, so per
usual and especially today he’s weighing heavy on my thoughts, the carnation
made it even more, but in a lovely way. I got heart shaped ravioli which I
thought was clever enough to take a picture of. To me it never looks as good in
a picture as it actually are.
Finally it was time for
desert. We’d been anticipating this because the friend we were dining with made
it. Whoopee Pies. Red velvet crème filling whoopee pies. I’m not big on sweets,
but damn were these pies good! I’ve blogged about his talents before; he made
our pumpkin bday cake. Amazing! Yum! And we finished off the night with a red box movie at the hizzie, 50/50. It was funny and sad.
My Besties
I use to say I didn’t
have a best friend. This was because I thought, and felt, the same way of all my
friends and didn’t want to put them in a category. As well I didn’t want anyone
to feel left out. It’s so obvious in my older age who my actual best friends
are. The ones, though I may not see as often, are there for me whenever and
always.
My best friend Lars, who
lives a way aways but I’ve known since 4th grade. John, who I see at
least once a week at our scheduled TV night, who I lived with for years barely
coming out of that still friends, always makes it ok to be me. Wesley, whom I
can be silly and act however I want with no judgment. And my sisters who define
unconditional love. Gypsy gets extra points because she wasn’t born in, she
chose us.

Ginger and Roman
Say herro to our new
buddies. Myself first sighted them at a local antique store that we frequent. I
thought they were, obviously and unmistakably, interestingly adorable! So they
have only one leg and their hair is messed up!? They are precious. They were ridiculously
priced at a high $18 bucks a pop and I just didn’t have the monies to
purchase them at that time. As you do, I took a picture of them and sent them
to my sissy.
Weeks had passed and they
hadn't escaped my thoughts. It’s like they were mine the moment I saw them.
Not at all expected my sister went to the antique store last week and they were
still there! So, she purchased them (on sale).
Big smiles all round. Friends and family say they’re creepy and make fun
of their one leg as well as hair. We were told we spent too much for them
and that the store should of paid us to take them. Still I love them and I'm so
happy they’re home.
Dear Winter
You have been hiding all
season and I have been really depressed. A couple days of 20-30 degree weather
does not constitute as a winter. I’ve prayed, wished and hoped for you but
never really saw you. One day you surprised me with a couple of pathetic snow
flurries, but that was it.

My Journey's: His Mistake My Bad
I dated this guy for a very quick second back in high school. Because I was young and he was stupid he kind of broke my heart. See I still had my V card and he was just going off to college. Such is life, if you’re a college boy and your girl isn’t putting out there’s really no use for her. I kid, but there is a little truth in every joke. Really it just wasn’t right for either of us. But as you do, I got all weepy about it and my heart was broken.
A couple of years later, being good friends, we decided to try again. This time I was both young and stupid. I had pretty much just gotten out of a very long and draining relationship, probably shouldn’t have jumped back into one. I was just starting to live the single life and I was on the brink of turning 21. It all happened a bit too fast and I broke his heart. I mean I love him, but he pretty much moved into my house on day one! And as most men do, because they really weak, he lashed out verbally and we didn’t speak for about 3 years. I lost my best friend. Awwws.
Droppin dem Bombs
I love how people can just
unleash their bombs while in the bathroom stall next to me. Further more, while
I’m in the bathroom at all. I just cannot do that.
It’s always happening to
me though. I’ll be in a stall and someone will come in, sit in the stall right
next to me and just bomb it out! Sometimes I have a hard time not laughing.
Mostly I just sit very still and wonder if this person even knows I’m in there.

And I Dreamt of Weirdness
The past two nights I
had dreams about my ex. The first one involved his evil sissy. See we use to
be, what I thought was close friends, but when her brother and I started
dating she turned into mega bitch. She sometimes haunts my dreams being the
bitch that she is and me screaming at her. I guess through my dreams is the
only way to get all that aggression out.
Anyways, I dreamt that a
bunch of us gurls were at a party and she was there (ick). Which is fine, I see
her from time to time in bigger groups. My sister was trashed off some wine and
seeked bitchy out to make amends. Now, I can hold a grudge just as much as the
next scorpio but my sister she puts a new meaning in grudge holding. I would be
the first to talk to this evil again not my sister. So, my sister is all wine
wasted talking to bitchy and they’re making amends and I’m pissed! I storm off,
knowing that bitchy has seen me and I’m embarrassed that she knows I’m mad
about this. I go outside to the car and start complaining to my gurl friends
and they’re wondering why my sister is talking to her too. I then wake up.
Last night my dream
involved my ex directly. He invited me to his wedding!!! The gall! I was
obviously confused and upset by this, so I went to another ex for advice. I
asked him if he was invited and if I should go. I don’t recall the advice
exactly, but I know that it was good advice because I could feel myself feeling
relived in the dream. Thus waking up.

Elevator Horror of the (early) Week
Yesterday evening I stayed
a little late at work. So, it was only about 2 minutes, late is late ok!
Anyways, I stayed a little bit late at work and as you would think the
elevator wasn’t all that busy. I made it all the way down to the 2nd floor
before some asshole hopped on. The reason this guy is an asshole is because he
got on at 2 and got off at 1!
Honestly I will never
understand people’s laziness for getting on an elevator to get off ONE floor.
The dreaded elevator is the last thing I want to do. I feel it slows me down
and let’s be honest; those things are always messing up, but I’m up 12 floors I
have no other choice. This guy, he had a choice. He got on at 2, played with
his cell for literally a second, and got off at 1. Waste of my time.
I mean wow.

RuPaul’s Drag Race: SEASON 4
I absolutely love this
show. Not only is it hilarial but also those queen bitches are catty as hell. So far this season I don’t really have a favorite. A couple of likes, but
no Raven or Pandora Box or my gurl SHANGALA! Ha.la.lou.
There’s one queen that is
a really heavy black man by day. Has an f’d up grill, been in jail and has
lived to tell the tail. By night he’s a very pretty heavy black women. I don’t
get it. How do they look so pretty in drag? All that make up they put on. They
look like yellow stripped zebra faces in the make up room, but on the
runway…Beauty.

It’s What I Do
I was told recently that
my journeys were stupid, and worthless. A load of crap and
meaningless. This may be so, but they’re mine and I am not asking anyone to pay
attention. I write these stories for a couple reasons: 1) To keep in memory and
2) because some of them are straight funny.
I started the online
dating because I was coming out of a long relationship and needed to not only
get out of my head, but I wanted to see what else was out t here. No, I wasn’t
looking for something. Yes I was trying to get out of my bubble. You see
Chamblee is a small tight bubble. It’s a blessing and a curse that we all know
each other. At the beginning I just needed to get out of that. And I did! This
may not be meaningful to some people, but it is and was to me.
Some may say online dating
is for suckers or weird o’s. Others may say at least you’re trying. The
supporters are what got me through 3 years of it. I may have
suggested online dating to quite a few friends in the years but it’s not for
everybody, and if you don’t like it don’t do it. It’s easier to cancel then it
was to set it up. Damnit if those sites don’t have you answering a
load of questions and filling out surveys and creating a criteria that they don’t
even match you based on.
The point is I’m human. Yes my
blog is filled with spelling and grammar errors. Yes I go on meaningless dates. I don’t care. I never claimed to be something I’m not. My posts may seem rough or
vulnerable lately. It’s been a long couple weeks. Work is buggin, friends are
buggin, life is buggin. I’ve realized that I have some of the best and
not so best friends, acquaintances rather. Ones that would be there for me no matter what. And others
that are too hard on me or only there when the time is right. And that’s ok, I’m
fine with that. I’m just old enough now to not give a shit either way.
I do this for me and the few readers that enjoy what I have to say.
