Valentine’s Day Whoopee Pies

Despite my initial plan to boycott vday, not because I’m single but because of the loss we suffered last year, I had a pretty good one. A coworker gave me a cute lady bug card with home made chocolates and I did decided to dress in red with one of my favorite heart necklace creations. One of my beffies got me flowers and Mason Robert chocolates (the best) and we met with a friend and his youths for a “vdate” at the Mad Italian.

At arrival we were greeted with red carnations. Readers, you know carnations remind me of Garrett, so per usual and especially today he’s weighing heavy on my thoughts, the carnation made it even more, but in a lovely way. I got heart shaped ravioli which I thought was clever enough to take a picture of. To me it never looks as good in a picture as it actually are.

Finally it was time for desert. We’d been anticipating this because the friend we were dining with made it. Whoopee Pies. Red velvet crème filling whoopee pies. I’m not big on sweets, but damn were these pies good! I’ve blogged about his talents before; he made our pumpkin bday cake. Amazing! Yum! And we finished off the night with a red box movie at the hizzie, 50/50. It was funny and sad.
