I needed gas about a week ago and decided I’d hit
up the Shell near my house because you can save .10 cents per gallon (so they
advertise) by using your Kroger Plus card. As I’ve discussed before there is a
plethora of gas stations near my house…for some reason I always choose the most
expensive one. I’m paying with cash so I pay first only to find out in order to
use your Kroger plus card you need to enter its code FIRST. I get my gas only to drive up the street and another shell's gas is .06 cents cheaper. Gasoline = 2, Tara
= 0.
This morning I needed gas (again) so I thought I’d
try the Shell once more to save .10 cents. I decided to use my GasBuddy app so
not to get screwed. My app says that the Shell on Peachtree Industrial has the
cheapest gas. Fine, I’ll leave a bit early to go out of my way to save, theoretically
around .20 (give or take) cents. When I arrived at the Shell it was CLOSED
DOWN! All pumps “out of order”. Gasoline = 3, Tara = 0.
At this point I’ve given up on the shell and just
need gas so decided to hit up the BP near my house, that is usually right around
standard price of the others. When I approach I notice, duh, the Shell right
next door to it and it’s cheaper than the Philips and Exxon across the street,
so naturally I pull in and am ecstatic because I can use my Kroger plus and
save an additional .10 cents! I do everything right, put in my Kroger plus ID
first, go through the other prompts of payment and say “no” to a car wash
(really what is with all this stuff these days? Why can’t I just pay for my gas
and go? BP has a TV on their gas pumps now!). Then a message comes up that says
“no credits received on your Kroger Plus card today” or something along those
lines. I’m thinking “What! Why?” and a closer look at the advertisement says
you have to EARN 1000 POINTS TO SAVE THE .10 CENTS! I am wowed! Gasoline = 4,
Tara = 0.
