FAME!

A co-worker took me out to lunch last Friday to “thank” me for all the hard work I do…Actually she wanted to take me out for having me do a job that we technically don’t do anymore that is a pain.in.the.ass. Nevertheless, it is my job, but I obliged to the luncheon and was allowed to bring a friend (co-worker).

We ate at Rumi’s Kitchen a Persian cuisine. We were supposed to go to Double Zero (I wanted the pizza), but they were closed for lunch (LAME). This is important for my co-worker was having a surprise shipped to Double Zero, but she didn't make the reservation till the day of and then realized they were closed so had to have my “surprise” re directed. The surprise was quite one in fact! She’d had my friend (co-worker) ask me my favorite cake, I said ice cream or cookie, my favorite color, it’s BLUE or RED and my favorite Disney character (???) it’s Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. Shit you could even get away with Ariel (even though I've realized recently she’s a spoiled selfish batch). My surprise came out at desert. It was a large cookie concoction with Aurora painted on the center cookie. Lovely for a 5 year old, thoughtful and funny for a 31 year old. It is the thought that counts and it was very sweet.

Anyways, as I do I was very overwhelmed and taking pictures all over the place. Every dish, every plate (I loved the plates I want them for my home) and ourselves. I’m new to Foursquare so after checking in I also posted a couple pics to their page. The manager and wait staff were very friendly, talking to us and making sure our experience was up to par (it was). They asked if they could take a picture of us to post to their facebook wall to which we were very eager to pose. They got our names and said they’d tag us when they post it.

I decided this morning to check in on Rumi’s Kitchen on facebook. After scrolling down a bit I noticed one of my pictures, used to describe their Pistachio Baklava desert. I recognized it right away, because my angles are recognizable and the border around the picture is from my favorite app (hipstimatic disposable, no longer available). I went ahead and “liked” the page and commented on the picture telling them we had a great time and thanks for sharing my picture. As well, I shared the link to my facebook page J It feels good to have something like that posted.

Thank you Facebook…

For reminding me that I hate you and that I love the “hide” option that you got rid of.

I’m going to say that facebook has been responsible for making me mad at every guy I've dated since I've been single. Facebook and the over willingness to share every little thing you do on fb. Dating is hard enough, and then you got facebook adding drama where it doesn't need to be.

Taco Bell and Their New Sauce Sayings

Can we get one of these that say “Friend Request Denied”? Typically I do more denying than accepting. Seriously I probably have 14 ignored friend requests right this very moment. Sometimes I go through them and try to know you or remember you, but truth is I don’t so we’re probably not friends. Not even by facebook standards.

Could this FB be an Evil Cult?

Again it’s fb! These holes that allow people we don’t want contacting us to get in. Today I have deleted a friend request from the same person 3 times (I have always preferred things that come in threes)! I guess she didn’t get the hint the first time I REJECTED her request. So, she thought it good measure to ask again…and again. Home girl it’s not happening!

I guess we do it to ourselves. Putting ourselves out there vulnerable to people contacting us. Usually it’s as simple as rejecting a friend request (once), but this one seems to be harder than it’s worth. So now it has come to her being BLOCKED!

Number ONE Reason I Hate Facebook

I realize that mark zuckleburger (or whatever) is making a shit ton of money off facebook, but at the price of it’s user’s privacy…I just don’t think that’s fair. As an adult I can choose my privacy settings and KNOW, with great certainty, what I am and am not putting out there for the WORLD to see. But for a child who has absolutely NO idea what he or she is getting into…it’s scary.

I remember a time when you had to be a certain age to join. Not only that, you had to be in college. It was a college network. Now before fb there was Myspace, but still you had to be at least 18 or older. I think even 18 at this point is too young to post your life online, but at least it was there. Protecting us. Now you can be ANY age! Some are not mature enough to decide for themselves what is or is not appropriate for social sites. I know for myself I didn’t realize what I was doing until I was 25 and I had to learn the hard way.

Fb does gives us the option to make our pages private, but for a teen that thinks they’re the shit doesn’t want anything and everything they do every second of every waking minute to be private. Could there at least be a MANDITORY private setting for teens? In a perfect world these teens would have parents who actual PARENT their children. Maybe most do, but I know some that don’t. If it were me I would be taking my child’s computer and cell phone, or ipod or whatever, away every night at 9:00. I swear having a 16-year-old niece has scared me away from ever wanting kids.

If our parents don’t protect us then who will? It’s certainly not the moneymakers behind such sites like facebook. They don’t care. And they shouldn’t have to.

P.S. Hey facebook, is there a way you can BLOCK friend requests? Some crazy bia keeps requesting me after I ignore her! I mean I know I'm awesome, but no one should be that eager to be my friend...

Reasons I Love Facebook

Full on STALK mode! A covert method of investigating using facebook. Good for discovering a wealth of information about people you don’t actually know.

Being able to stalk people without having to hide behind bushes and being creepy (lets face it no matter how you stalk, it’s still creepy). Fb stalking comes in handy when you’re dating. I’ve done my fair share of fb stalking these past years. It’s like the world’s new background check. You google someone’s name and their fb page is the first thing that comes up.

Reasons I hate Facebook

You know when you feel like everything is right with the world?  And then thanks to facebook everything anyone you know does is right smack in your face. Things that aren’t seen are best ignored, but when it’s in your face it’s hard to keep the images out of you head.

It’s a picture seen in your timeline of your evil ex boyfriend saying “Herro how are you doing? I’m just hanging out you know married, even though I told you I never would, and I’m totally happy and you’re still single and facebook rocks!” This comes straight from a friend of evil ex posting an article and all I want to do is press the “unlike” button.

I know that my life is so much better off with out him, but damn YOU told me YOU did not want to get married jerk! And I had to find out through an EX and now thanks to FB I get to see your wife’s profile picture, being at YOUR wedding! Makes me want to kick you in the face.
