Gifts Given

My family is awesome. Totally unexpected I received gifts for my recent event. My wonderful sister, Gypsy, sent me a book for my kindle that I started reading today, along with a perfect letter of love and encouragement with a picture of the two of us. Both went on my pin board in my bedroom. My aunt gave me a gorgeous necklace hand made by one of her favorite jewelry designers, Anna Balkan.

I feel like I should be giving gifts to my loved ones. It was gift enough that they were there for me.

Dear Sand Man, What Does this all Mean

Had another dream about Garrett last night. This one was really weird. He wasn’t in it, he wrote me a letter and it’s like it arrived in real time. Meaning I got it in today’s time, to date it’s been a year and 2 months since his death.

It said something like, “You don’t have to worry about me I’m ok and it wasn’t your fault”. Honestly I don’t know what that is all about. I’ve never blamed myself and there’s no reason I would. Sure I’ve worried about him extensively in the past year. Thinking about him quite often. But blame myself…No sir.

Anyways it was weird and it kind of creeped me out. Typically I don’t get creeped out dreaming of Garrett, but for some reason I woke feeling unsettled.

Reasons I hate Facebook

You know when you feel like everything is right with the world?  And then thanks to facebook everything anyone you know does is right smack in your face. Things that aren’t seen are best ignored, but when it’s in your face it’s hard to keep the images out of you head.

It’s a picture seen in your timeline of your evil ex boyfriend saying “Herro how are you doing? I’m just hanging out you know married, even though I told you I never would, and I’m totally happy and you’re still single and facebook rocks!” This comes straight from a friend of evil ex posting an article and all I want to do is press the “unlike” button.

I know that my life is so much better off with out him, but damn YOU told me YOU did not want to get married jerk! And I had to find out through an EX and now thanks to FB I get to see your wife’s profile picture, being at YOUR wedding! Makes me want to kick you in the face.

Oh Holy Faithful

I feel so clean!

I was baptized this passed Sunday. I’d been working up to this for 6 weeks with the classes and the readings and going through the motions. I’d set forth at the beginning of the year to do this and it’s finally finished. It was such a happy day. I was so nervous and scared but it all worked out. Both my parents came; my dad dressed up which is huge. No bow tie, but still he looked nice. My grandparents, my Aunt and my twin sissy came as well. I had my lovely sister in law Gypsy sharing so much love and support. I was able to look back at Gypsy with her mother and they gave me thumbs up. It was reassuring knowing that I had my family, and even friends, backing me up.

On arrival I noticed I was the only person dressed in a t-shirt and shorts. I was told to dress in something dark and didn’t mind getting wet. I was soon told that I was the only person, out of 5, getting baptized at our service. This made me even more nervous. Sitting through sermon I could barely pay any attention knowing that our Pastor was soon going to be calling me up. Gypsy took some great pictures of the service and wouldn’t you know my nervousness showed through with wet pits going into the tub. It’s quite funny but a bit embarrassing as well. I just hope no one noticed. Our pastor was great, as was the assistant pastor, whom I took the classes with. Afterwards he says, "It's always great to baptize a Georgia fan"...hehehe I wore that shirt for him knowing he is a fan.

It really was a great day. So much love and support I am so grateful. I have to thank God for gracing me with such great people in my life. I really could not be more happy and grateful. Life is good, Thanks be to God.

Café Amelie Review

I’m always reviewing places. I think if you go somewhere and you hate it you should review it. If you go somewhere and you love it you should review it. That being said I wrote a review on Trip Advisor for the Café Amelie.

Here’s my review: Great Ambience with a Touch of Snooty - This would be the second time we've visited Cafe Amelie. The location is very lovely. Gorgeous courtyard seating as well as inside. I feel like the staff was a bit snooty. We arrived around 30 minutes early, where they take "reservations only" and when I went up to the hostess stand there were two ladies standing there. I gave them my name and time for my reservation and one said "and you're here now" almost annoyed with me and the place was not busy. I replied with a "yes but we can sit and wait". The other lady at the stand never even acknowledged me. They went on speaking to each other and myself and family sat down. Shortly after they decided to take us on in to the restaurant. We sat there for a while going over the menu and FINALLY a waitress came over to us and said "I'm sorry for your wait there was a mis communication and I decided to pick you guys up". Well I don't really care about all that; we're just there to enjoy our dinner. We'd been over the menu once, twice, three times more so we went ahead and ordered. Dinner was very good. I got the crab cake my sister got the catfish, which she loved and my father had the Gumbo. Over all our experience was quite nice. The waitress was prompt and food was great. – I gave them 4 stars, minus a point for the service.

I got a message in my profile inbox that said this: I doubt that the hostesses were annoyed that you were early for your reservation. I have been to Cafe Amelie a lot in the past 2 years with and without a reservation, and the hostess was always friendly. Maybe you need to get the stick out of your butt

EXCUSE ME!? Who are you, unknown person, which questions MY experience at this place? How ridiculous does a person have to be to write someone this? The best part is I’m not the only reviewer, in the past week, to have negative thoughts towards the wait staff . A roll of my eyes and a quick click of the mouse to block this user ensue. I shared this with both my Daddio and Sissy. They’re response is pretty much the same, “To hell with them there are much better places to eat in NOLA” and this place is “too expensive and isn’t worth the headache”. True and true.

My Journey’s: Boy Was My Face Red

I am qualifying this as a “journey” though it’s not really a “journey” just an instance that happened between an ex and myself.

I’m in our accountant’s office bitching about how I’m having to pay more out of pocket for my recent dental work than I’d planned. Totally pissed! While I’m going on and on my ex walks in her office. Quick back-story - It’s no secret that an employee here is an ex of mine. I got him the job about 3 or 4 years back. We dated a year after high school and though we’ve had some rough patches, we’ve remained friends - So, he walks into the office and we start going on about how he and the rest of the sales reps are going to Vegas. Of course I’m jello! I want to go to Vegas. We start talking about flying and blah blah blah I need to get over my fear of flying blah blah blah.

One of his friends is a pilot for Delta. Unfortunately, though our office fly through Delta often, his friend has never flown him. This starts up a conversation about two girls that are also friends with said pilot that I couldn’t remember. I couldn't rap my brain around who these girls he’s speaking of were, then SNAP it comes back to me. “Oh” I say, “I remember them. I use to think you had a crush on her when we were dating”. We’d kind of gotten caught up in conversation that we’d forgotten we were in the accountant’s office and she's just sitting there listening. My ex says to her, “You must really be enjoying this conversation” and she says, “I’m just wondering how it’s not awkward that you guys work together when you’ve both seen each other naked”. We both at the same time said, “It is now”.

As I get up from the chair I say “on that note I think I’ll be leaving” and my ex begins to follow. My face was blood red and again in unison we say, “Thanks _____”. It was funny and yes very awkward. I think we’ll be avoiding each other for a while now.

Cassette Tape Phone Case

How much would you pay for this Iphone case? Everywhere I go someone says something about it. I’ll be taking pictures, someone will say, “What is that? A cassette tape?” No it’s just my phone. “Oh my that is so cool”. No fail every time I whip it out someone says they want it. I’ve got a list of people that I could give it to…or sell it to.

I’m quick to tell people where I got it and for how much. Last night I was told that I should give a price and see who bites. I do want to get rid of it. Not because it lacks awesomeness, but because it’s silicone and it slips off easily. I need security.
